Devon River Valley Master Plan
Public use and ownership of the waterfront were the greatest hurdles for this master plan. The river’s edge is a valuable asset to any community. The push for open greater public access has come to Devon after significant development has taken place. The Master Plan addresses the concerns of ownership and operations. The river valley contains variously: Voyageur Park (public); wooded steep banks with trails; public sewage treatment facility; golf course; and a campground operated by the Lion’s Club.
Value was added by the proposal to link the parts of the river valley by means of connecting trails between the parts and with the town centre. The resolve of the Town, given their budgets, was to develop and implement a circuit of trails in the manner of their program on the table lands of the Town.
